Full Job Description:
The person we are looking for has to be a self-starter who is capable of working in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable with dogs and cats of all sizes. An Animal Caretaker is responsible for cleaning dog/cat kennels, letting dogs out to potty, feeding and giving medications, cleaning up behind the dogs outside, and general housekeeping chores such as dishes and laundry as needed. We need someone who is responsible, caring, dependable, and a team player who is able to work independently.
This is a permanent year-round position so people who are able to work long-term and have a flexible schedule will get first consideration.

Adoption Coordinator
​
​
Shelter From The Storm Rescue is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Customer Service Specialist, Adoption Coordinator. The primary responsibilities of this role include facilitating the adoption process, providing care and enrichment for shelter animals, and ensuring the welfare and safety of all animals under our care.
Key Responsibilities Include -
Adoption Counseling:

Conduct adoption interviews and assess potential adopters to ensure compatibility with shelter animals.

Provide guidance and education to prospective adopters on responsible pet ownership, including training, behavior, and healthcare needs.

Facilitate meet-and-greets between potential adopters and shelter animals to promote successful matches.
-
Coordinate and attend adoption events.
-
Process adoption paperwork and fees accurately and efficiently.
-
Provide exceptional customer service to visitors, volunteers, and adopters, answering inquiries and providing information about available animals and adoption procedures.
-
Assist with the coordination of adoption events, outreach activities, and community engagement efforts to promote adoption and raise awareness about shelter programs and services.
Animal Care:
-
The adoption counselor will support the animal care team when needed or assigned.

Provide care and enrichment for shelter animals, including feeding, grooming, and cleaning kennels or living areas.

Monitor the health and well-being of animals, identifying and reporting any medical or behavioral concerns to the shelter veterinarian or management.

Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinary staff.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of animal housing areas, common areas, and outdoor spaces.
Administrative:

Cover front desk

Provide support to volunteers when the volunteer coordinator is not in the building

Team Collaboration:

Collaborate effectively with shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinary professionals to ensure the smooth operation of daily activities and the fulfillment of organizational goals.

Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to animal care and welfare.
Qualifications:
-
Previous experience working with animals in a shelter, rescue, veterinary clinic, or related environment is preferred.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with diverse individuals and groups.

Knowledge of animal behavior, basic animal care principles, and pet health and wellness.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Volunteer & Events Coordinator

We are looking for a passionate people-person with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, process-driven, collaborative workspace to fill the role of Volunteer & Events Coordinator. Our ideal candidate is driven by their connection to the people and animals, both within the organization and externally, and seeks to increase their knowledge, skills, and abilities through valuable shared experiences.
While our team is highly collaborative, this position is primarily responsible for performing the duties and responsibilities outlined below with a specific focus on executing adoption events, fundraisers, and outreach initiatives to raise awareness and generate support for our work. You’ll also manage our incredible group of volunteers, ensuring they have the training and resources needed to make an impact.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and manage fundraising events, adoption fairs, and community outreach programs.

Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for various roles within the organization.

Develop relationships with local businesses and sponsors to support our events and initiatives.

Promote events and volunteer opportunities through social media and community outreach.

Track event outcomes and volunteer participation to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
