Road to Recovery:
Sweet Fiona
Meet Fiona, one of the most broken, most resilient dogs we’ve had the honor of knowing. She found herself at Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) as a stray in absolutely devastating condition. She could not stand. She would not eat. Her body was covered in fleas, her legs had open, painful sores, and her coat was dry and brittle. Her teeth are in terrible condition. Her body temperature was so low it didn’t even register, and she arrived at MADACC with a body condition score of just 1/6.
Without a rescue stepping forward, she was facing euthanasia. We didn’t hesitate, we said yes, as we have so many times before.

SFTS On The News:
Emergency Rescues in Juneau County
On January 15th, Shelter from the Storm responded to two back-to-back emergency cruelty cases in Juneau County — and our resources were pushed to their absolute limit. In a matter of hours, more than 50 animals came into our care, many sick, starving, and suffering.
Two Major Cases. One Night. View News Coverage Here
Then, a few days later, we received a third call from the Juneau County Sheriff, with another urgent rescue needed. Bringing our total intake of animals to 83 in one week.
This rescue effort has stretched our team, our space, and our finances beyond capacity — but we refuse to turn animals away. Our focus now is transitioning them from a life of neglect to a life of love.
