Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease in dogs AND cats. It is exactly as its name states, worms in the heart and lungs that eat away at the material until the heart can no longer function.
Heartworms are found in the heart and large adjacent vessels of infected dogs.
The female worm is 6 to 14 inches long and 1/8 inch (5 mm) wide; the male is about half the size of the female.
One dog may have as many as 300 worms.
Almost every dog or cat with heartworms can be healed, but due to the high and constantly increasing cost of treatment, many aren't given the opportunity.
Treatment can range from $500....
TO $1500 & BEYOND!
