Happy Tails
Emerald is the sweetest and most cuddly cat I have ever encountered. When I first brought her home, she spent most of her time hiding under the couch, the dresser, or other hiding places I didn't even realize existed until she found them. But after about a week she finally got used to everything, and now she never hides at all. She follows me around wherever I go like a furry little shadow. She's got the cutest little high pitched meow to let me know that she wants to play (which she does...
We adopted Jack in March 09 and can’t imagine our lives without him. He is a good boy and so smart. He is always ready to play or learn or just nap and cuddle. Everyone who meets Jack, just falls in love with him too. We are lucky to have him in our lives. This is a picture of “Cool Jack” coming home from camping!! - Jill Fritz
Nica was extremely shy when my roommate and I first adopted her. She wouldn't even come near us. She would be so scared and tense when we came close to her. But after a few days of working in desensitizing her slowly, she started adjusting and slowly raising her tail up like a confident girl she has always been inside. Now, she's a quite happy girl. She loves going for a walk or anything outdoor as long as it doesn't involve her getting wet or going to the groomer. She would jump here and ...
Hi All, I am Jack, formally named Ghost. I was adopted by my new family a year ago and have settled into my home very well. My mom says I got my new name because I was like the main pirate Jack Sparrow from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. I took over the house as soon as I moved in. Also when I moved in I couldn’t wait to meet my two new sisters and ran right up to them and introduced myself. I love to chase my younger sister Jules all over the house and cuddle with my older portly sister ..
Celebrating his first Christmas, Albert (yep, still Albert) is happy to call our house home. Whether it's his toys scattered across the living room floor, or waking us up bright and early to play he is always a joy to have around. His hobbies include bird watching and talking to the neighborhood squirrels. To keep his figure he enjoys leaping into the air to catch his toys. He also enjoys afternoon naps by the heat register. He will soon be joined by a new addition, Starling. -The Lemke Family
Hello I'm writing a happily ever after about my cat that i adopted named Eden now renamed Lilly! she has now fully adjusted and she loves her new home. although her buddy (our dog) just passed she loved being around him. She loves to play and tries to attack our feet all the time, she loves to hide around corners or behind anything and jump out when you come. I'm so glad we decided to adopt from this shelter!
The day I adopted Gwen, all the girls were so excited (and sad) to see her get a new home and I totally know why: She's the BEST (and prettiest) kitty ever! She acclimated to my place in about two days and is stunning with new people, pacing and purring between their legs to seeing what's going on. She has a little basket of toys on the floor, and when she's ready to play, she'll pulls them out, sometimes (believe it or not) even putting them back when she's all tuckered out! I've set up a ...
We adopted Buddy on June 6, 2009. Buddy has since been renamed Max. He already recognizes his new name and is blossoming into a wonderful pet. We were told his chow tail might never curl up properly, and we are happy to report it already has!
Another great addition to our family, Penny! She loves to snuggle, and chase her big brother, Albert, around the house. She is defiantly a Momma's girl. She is a lovable kitten that will just melt your heart every time you pick her up. -- Jenna L.
Dear Shelter From the Storm, I've attached pictures of our new addition (formerly Killer/Kitt) Little Miss Pretty Pants with her new best friend, Deano. When Deano was a kitten he got affection from and played with our older cat, Miike Neko, a Snowshoe Siamese. As Deano got bigger and stronger, Miike was less willing to roughhouse and Deano became a hyper little troublemaker. This started me on my quest to find him a playmate. I knew I wanted another Siamese mix since Miike is a wonderful...
Hi there, Just got my Shelter From the Storm newsletter and have a pic for Happily Ever After. We adopted Zulu, whom we renamed Truffle for his black-and-white coat (it's a food thing) on 12 May 2007. He was so tiny and his brother was just as cute (Zeke? Zeus? we've forgotten, but it was another Z name). Truff is a character! He has this adorable habit of lifting his back leg when he's feeling coy and flirtatious (not in a spraying or naughty way); we often wonder if his brother does...
Oliver, (formerly Delbert), is the BEST dog! We adopted him in March 2009 and he instantly become part of our family. He loves to cuddle on the couch with us, go to the dog park, play with toys with my children and at 8:30, he puts himself to bed in his little dog bed. He is the sweetest, most lovable dog! We are so glad we found him. Thank you Shelter From the Storm!
Ace now has a new name of Seth, and is greatly enjoying sharing his life with us and his new "brother" and "sister"! He's always the first one up in the morning, and loves to make sure that everyone else is up with him to play and have a good time. Thank you so much for providing us with this great addition to our family! - Alex P and Andy Z
AKA "Junior Miss" is now Stella and has adjusted quite well to life at our crazy house, with one rescue mutt already and two crazy cats, she fit right in and has become a nice addition to the family. Her energy can be a bit much for us sometimes, but there are enough funny moments to make up for them. When Stella isn't chasing chipmunks across our rock wall, chasing the cats or wrestling with Mason (our other dog, 6 years old) she enjoys napping on the couch or climbing into bed and ...
Smokey is now settled in and enjoying her life with our other cats. The male cats (Lovey and Lewis) accepted her pretty readily. The female cats (Lola and Kitten) aren’t really sure what to make of Smokey just yet. Smokey doesn’t seem to mind and has already claimed several spots in the house for relaxing. She also leaves gifts for us each morning outside the bedroom door, which we close so my allergies can have a break. When I open the door, I usually see 6 or 7 cat toys right waiting ...
Here is a pic of Lottie and Lina her sister. They are great together---Lina's says there's no way she is coming back to SFTS. Thank you to your rescue not only for Lottie but all you do for the animals--- Best, Deb
