What is the SFTS Fundraising Committee? 

The purpose of the SFTS Fundraising Committee is to implement the fundraising plans for the year. You will work on specific projects that help us connect with the community and get people and businesses excited about helping animals. This means that YOU will make a direct impact on how we fundraise and help animals in need this year! The committee is broken into 3 sub-committees: Donor Relations Committee, Events Committee, and Volunteer Committee.

Open Positions

Vice Chairperson

Each sub-committee will have a designated Vice Chair which reports directly to the Head Chairperson and oversees the general committee members. The Vice Chairperson will work directly with the Head Chairperson to ensure members have the resources they need to implement the committee plan. They will help troubleshoot problems and answer questions for members as needed. The commitment for this position is 1 year and approximately 10 hours a month, including monthly meetings. Chairpersons are highly encouraged to attend fundraising events and admittance tickets are waived for these positions.

Committee Member

The main role of each Committee Member is to work together to implement the year's fundraising plans. The commitment for this position is 1 year and approximately 7-8 hours, including a monthly meeting of approximately 2.5 hours. Each committee reports to their respective Committee Chairs. All Committee Members are highly encouraged to attend Fundraising Events and admittance tickets are waived for these positions. See below for more specifics of each sub-committee.

Committees

Donor Relations Committee activities include:

  • Measuring progress toward goals monthly, troubleshooting as necessary.

  • Implementing strategies of the development plan within stated timeframes.

  • Analyze relationships with current and prospective donors and funders

  • Execute the donor retention plan 

  • Tap respective networks for potential donors of money, time, and in-kind support

  • Oversee Event Committee progress and budget

  • Carry out fundraising appeals to reach potential donors and retain current donors.

  • Collect data and develop reports to support grant initiatives.

Events Committee activities include:

  • Analyze relationships with current and prospective donors and funders as related to event activities

  • Analyze relationships with current and prospective corporate sponsors and work to develop those relationships

  • Work with the Donor Relations Committee to ensure budget and fundraising plan is on track.

  • Work with Volunteer Committee to ensure events can be carried out successfully.

  • Execute fundraising and friend-raising events

  • Create advertisements in accordance to the calendar to promote upcoming events

Volunteer Committee activities include:

  • Implement plans for volunteer retention and volunteer appreciation

  • Work with the Events Committee to ensure volunteer needs are met to ensure events can be carried out successfully

  • Implement plan to gain new volunteers and on-boarding process.
